Like most Asian girls, they also have a very feminine look and a slim figure compared to their western counterparts. In this section, we’ll go over the subtle differences you’ll see in the physical traits of women in different parts of Thailand. It is important to note however that as people migrate and mix with people of other regions, these differences become harder and harder to spot.

Now, averages don’t always tell the full story so let’s take a deeper look at Thai ethnicities because if they come from different part of the country, their appearance and style will also be different too. This is primarily due to their mixed heritage especially along the regions bordering other countries.

For the purpose of this section, we will focus on 4 geographical regions of Thailand – North, East, Central and Southern Thailand. This is because the women native to these regions tend to have distinct physical traits. It might be difficult to tell the subtle differences between the women from these regions at first glance. WOMEN FROM THE NORTH OF THAILAND

The people of the North of Thailand (the picturesque Chiang Mai and surrounding regions), also referred to as Tai Yuan or khon mueang in Thai which roughly translates into “people of the (cultivated) land.” They form the majority of the population of the 8 provinces of Thailand. A large section of the population here have full or partial Chinese ancestry – particularly Han Chinese. So you can expect women from this region to have a strong Chinese influence as far as their physical appearance is concerned.
